Privacy Policy

SoloDirector is a desktop app that turns your laptop into a camera monitor. Privacy isn't an afterthought for us — it's how the product works. This policy explains, in plain terms, what data the app and this website handle and what they don't.

The short version

  • Your camera video never leaves your device. The app processes the live feed locally on your computer. We never upload, store, transmit, or have any access to your video or audio.
  • We use first-party analytics — never ad trackers. To understand how SoloDirector is used and make it better, we record usage events on our own infrastructure (Cloudflare). On this website, nothing is tracked until you accept. In the app, it's optional and you can turn it off.
  • If you identify yourself, we connect usage to you. If you join the waitlist or sign in, we link your activity to your email so we can support you and improve onboarding. Stay anonymous and we won't.
  • We never sell your data, and we don't share it with advertising networks.

What the app handles

Camera and audio. SoloDirector reads your camera feed locally to display it with focus peaking, recording indicators, and exposure cues. This data stays on your machine. It is never sent to us or any third party.

Usage analytics (optional). So we can see how the app is actually used and improve it, SoloDirector records usage events — things like the app opening, a session ending, and which features you turn on. These go to our own server (Cloudflare); we do not use a third-party analytics service. No camera frames or audio are ever included. This is anonymous unless you sign in, you can turn it off in settings, and we tell you about it the first time you open the app.

Pro license check (optional). If you subscribe to Pro, the app sends your email address to our server to confirm your subscription status. The free version makes no such request.

What this website collects

Waitlist email. If you join the waitlist, we store the email address you submit so we can notify you and avoid adding you twice. That's the only thing stored, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.

Payment information (Pro). Pro subscriptions are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card details — Stripe processes the payment and shares only your email and subscription status with us so we can activate your license. See Stripe's privacy policy.

Analytics. With your consent — we ask before tracking anything — we record first-party analytics events such as page views and download clicks, stored on our own infrastructure (Cloudflare), not a third-party analytics service. To count unique visits we keep a random identifier in your browser. If you later join the waitlist or sign in, we link that identifier to your email so we can connect your activity to you. You can decline tracking, and we honor it.

Server logs. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) keeps standard request logs (IP address, timestamp, requested page) for security and reliability, as nearly all websites do.

Third parties we rely on

  • Stripe — payment processing for Pro subscriptions.
  • Cloudflare — website hosting, content delivery, and download distribution.

We don't use Google Analytics, advertising networks, or third-party tracking pixels. Our analytics are first-party: the events are stored on our own Cloudflare infrastructure and not shared with anyone.

Cookies and local storage

We don't set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If you accept analytics, we store a random identifier and your consent choice in your browser's local storage — that's how we count unique visits and remember your choice. Decline and we store only your choice.

Your rights

You can ask us to access or delete any personal data we hold about you (your waitlist email, or your Pro account email). Email us and we'll handle it. If you're in a region with data-protection laws like GDPR or CCPA, those rights apply to you here regardless of where you live.

Children

SoloDirector isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
